What Color Should Your TV Stand Be?

December 31, 2016 By Kenny

If you’re like most people, your TV is in the center of your living room. It’s the focal point of the room—everyone looks at it when they enter and it’s where everyone gathers around for social events, parties, and just hanging out. That means your TV stand is one of the most important pieces of furniture in your home. Having a TV stand that matches your home’s décor is important. In this guide, we’ll look at the best color options for your TV stand and help you choose the one that’s right for you.

Materials

First, you’ll have to decide what material you want your TV stand to be made from. This will change the color options you have. A wooden TV stand, for example, might come in a variety of wood types, such as oak or maple, as well as different stains. There are a few types of materials commonly used in manufacturing TV stands:

  • Wood: TV stands made of wood are very common. You can choose between natural wood colors and stains or paints that come in virtually unlimited color options.
  • Glass: Glass TV stands are a popular and usually inexpensive choice. There are fewer color choices with glass, but glass TV stands usually have supports to hold the panels up and these can come in a variety of materials colors.
  • Metal: Often, glass TV stands are made with metal supports. These can come in typical metallic colors or, more often, plain black.

Color Choices

The color you choose for your TV stand depends on the décor of your room and your personal tastes, but there are some simple guidelines you can follow to find the best color TV stand for your living room.

For a traditional look, it’s best to stick with natural wood colors. If you already have wooden furniture in your living room, such as a coffee table or end tables, find a TV stand that matches or compliments these. Pieces that have the same type of wood tend to match well, for example.

If you’re going for a trendy look, a bright pop of color on your TV stand can make it stand out. Hues of blue, such as a light tiffany blue or teal, are on trend and will draw everyone’s eye to your TV stand, making it a true centerpiece in your room.

For a simple or modern look, a basic metal and glass TV stand is an excellent choice. It doesn’t stand out, but it can easily blend in with your room and allow the TV itself, or another piece, to be the focal point of your room.
